RFL Halfway There Fair

I'm posting this for my friend Wilma because she's awesome, and wants your support during the RFL Halfway There Fair this Sunday (tomorrow).

This Sunday, June 1st the Relay for Life of Second Life will be holding its Halfway There Fair. During this fun event, my team, The Relay Rockers will be raising funds as part of this effort.

One of our main fund raisers is "Bid Me Bald". Volunteers agree to shed their hair for $L5000 a day donation for RFL.

On Sunday from 6 am - 10 am SLT A Relay for Life Kiosk (benefiting American Cancer Society) will be set up just for me and my hair! At the end of the day, the total raised will cut off my hair, for L$5,000 per day. If L$10,000 is raised, I gotta go bald for 2 days. If L$35,000 is raised, I'm bald for a week. If I'm caught wearing my hair during the time I've been bid bald, I will have to match the total donation!

I'm a bit of a shopaholic and I've more than contributed my part to the SL economy...so it's your turn to give back!! I'm more than willing to go bald for any amount of time...if I collect L$70,000 ...I'm not above being bald for 2 weeks in SL. I figure that I'm already bald in RL...may as well go for it in my Second Life too.

I'm a bit of a private person but I will tell you a bit about my reasoning for being so vocal about this project. I'm a cancer survivor! I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2004. I went thru chemo and radiation...thinking it was all over and done with. But, this wasn't to be. I was diagnosed a second time in July of 2007. I finished my chemo in late March. I'm finishing up with my radiation now and I fully intend on being around to spoil my grandbabies SOMEDAY. My son is 21 and a senior in college. I will be here to see those grandkids. I know that. I feel it in my heart.

I think it is amazing at what we can do when we pull together and work towards the goal. SL RFL last year was one of the most touching things I've ever experienced. I've been involved with RFL for many years and I was just as touched at the Survivors Lap in SL as I was my first survivors lap in so called real world. I sat in front of my computer on a beautiful summer day...I sat there all day...couldn't tear myself away from the computer screen. Everyone came together for the same cause. This is a beautiful thing!

Cancer is a horrible disease but it doesn't have to be a death sentence. Don't look at me like I'm sick or a patient..just look at me. ..I'm a mom..I'm a daughter..a sister ...a wife...a friend..I am you. Cancer can happen to anyone. Let's just find a cure.

I'm on a roll... more fab menswear that looks great on us girlies too!

On the same sim as bitterCandy, there is a shop called Republik. Right now there's only a small collection of menswear, but again, all the items at this shop are transfer!!! Gift.GIVING.GALORE!

Most items are scripted to change colors via a menu on touch, which is like getting a dozen different items in one that is sure to match many existing items in your wardrobe.

I have a giant Clothes folder. I've tried to organize with categories that make sense to me, like this:

Clothes

> Accessories

> Designers

> Random Designers

> Japanese Designers

> Random Japanese Designers

> Lolita

> Bikinis

> Lingerie

Those with their own category are because I have hundreds if not thousands of different labels all thrown in there.

My inventory is a hopeless black hole.. right now I have several hundred folders that are not filed. But since the grid is borked and I can't tp anywhere! Guess what time it is........ INVY MANAGEMENT TIME! *sulks*

bitterCandy Mmm

I went to bitterCandy to pick up the free wardrobe set and found some top quality clothes there. Kal Rau is a Brazilian designer and creator of KR (which sells mostly men's fashion) and bitterCandy which features casual women's clothing, shoes, and accessories.

I've seen The World

I discovered a cool new spot to visit by skimming through my flickr contacts list and Ravenelle had posted a beautiful shot of The World sim.

Here is my set of photos taken at The World in Color and Black and White. They're the same snapshots, just desaturated in PS for the b/w look. I like it.. Love The World, really really gorgeous textures and architecture there.

I had a lot of fun running around with my glowed prim skirt!! The outfit is from GHOST! - the Korova Mid (there's still a 50% off sale, so you must go because Triangle Caudron designs lovely frilly gowns).

Something interesting about VIXEN hair: I looooooooooove the names that are given to my two favorite hair colors at this store. Platinum Plaything and Bombshell Brown!! Verikai Vargas has a lot of interesting fun styles up, especially if you're looking for BIG pigtails. <3

Lolita fashion is big in SL. I know this because my inventory has a special folder called "Lolita" to organize all of my favorite lolita fashions from various designers. Below is a dress from yet another creator that I've never heard of before until today! I must have been living under a sculpted rock, because the Carousel dress by Katat0nik is amazing!!!!

Zaara Indian Couture

Today's outfit is a recent release from Zaara Indian Couture called the Kantha set, and it has delicate brocade patterns along the knee-length skirt. Normally I'm really lazy and all my photographs are cropped inside Flickr, but today, I made collages!! Colors make me really happy, and the Kantha set definitely has some very warm rich tones so I felt creative. Yay for colors and collages!

Le Fleur Baroque

I'm watching The Tudors again, so my obsession with gowns and all things frilly are back!

Nicky Ree released this Le Fleur Baroque gown last weekend and it's fantastic. Someone once asked, how many gowns do you actually need Gogo? WELLLL.. the answer is a lot! I need all of them. I love gowns, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. Even if I have one in nearly every color, I can't help but look everytime Nicky Ree releases new stuff. YAY for gowns!!

And yay The Tudors!!

Since I've had my blog for awhile now, I get to see a lot of SL related search engine terms that people search for and end up at my site. Some are kinda obvious, others kinda strange.

Top 3 SL-related:

Gogolita, Stiletto Moody, and Enid Trenchcoat

Top 3 hair-related searches: sex kitten hair, sex hair, sex with hair (lmao!!!! and ew?)

Anyway, the number one search term that comes up EVERY SINGLE WEEK: Gala Phoenix Skins. I think people really want to know where to get the skins that were debuted at Skin Fair, but haven't been seen since. Hmm.. where are they?! I think being a shopaholic has some benefit, because I went ahead and bought all 3 packs in my skin tone of choice, and I'm really glad I did because Skin fair was moooooooonths ago, and that's a long time to wait for awesome skins!

So I will represent anonymous internet searchers and beg Gala Phoenix to release the skins in her shop already! Please!! Skin addicts are searching.. :p
